pillowcase dress

Attempted & completed! I cannot tell you how excited I was about this project. I chose this plain blue pillow case to be my guinea pig before I attacked an embroidered pillowcase which was my grandmother's, but I think my first try turned out pretty fetching, if you don't look too closely at the stitching. I used the pattern & directions from this website. Next step: a dress from a pattern. I have everything picked out, but I forgot the interfacing. It is a real bummer that the closest fabric store is 20 mins from my house, and that I have to use the expressway! BTW, if any of you buy fabric online, drop me a note about where.

VERY cute! I've thought about making some clothes, but haven't actually tried it. I just might have to try this one. I like easy stuff!

Love the pillowcase dress. A girl in my SS class made several for her daughter. I would love to make Greta more clothes but she has SO much I'm saving my craftiness for next year. I'm using my crafty streak to make her bows though.

Oh my word that is the cutest dress!! I will definitely think about making one of those for when I have a girl! (I only want baby girls for all the cute clothes out there and the ruffles and bows!!!!)

Thanks all! I am working on mtching/complimentary dresses for L & L. The bodies of the dresses are completed, but I need to buy the ribbon.

Dorothy: I know what you mean about adorable girl's clothing. But, all I get to buy these days are girl's clothes, so every now & again, I look on the boy's part of the store & think. . man, that's cute! But, a boy would CERTAINLY not look cute in a pillowcase dress, that's for sure.

Kelley: Do you have a failsafe bow method? I think Jen tried makin some but wasn't satisfied w/ her method, so we both buy them.

Wow...a pillowcase dress...sounds like one of those cute ideas that is always better on paper.

But this dress is adorable! I just may check the link out. I finally pulled out my sewing machine again..first time in over a year!

My creative juices are starting to flow again.
