Christmas Time is Here!

The soundtrack to this Christmas has been Michael W. Smith's new Christmas CD. We've really enjoyed it! Lots of big orchestral & choral works. It's perfect for trimming the tree or just wanting to get into the Christmas spirit. Last week, we put the tree & decorations up in stages. Kate has taken the whole thing in a stride. Lydia came over Friday night when Josh was putting up the Christmas tree. Since that time, she got it in her head that "Josh made the Christmas." Josh tried to tell her that he only installed the tree. I tried to get some good candidates for Christmas cards, but unfortunately, in most of the best pictures one of our extension cords is in the background. Try again! Sunday night, Lydia was over again at "Kate's home" and she got really excited about taking pictures with the Christmas. I haven't seen her so tickled to be "acting" in front of the cameras in awhile.

Lydia & church Pup (church Pup has one whisker loose.)

What a cute real laugh!

Here's she's talking on the phone with me. "Auntie Liz!!! (high pitched excited voice) How are you, Liz?"

Posing with a little double chin action and a Christmas bear Grandma Kathy gave her when she was born.

This is the second to last of a series of shots. She reaches for the ornament, grabs it, pulls it off the tree, and here is her expression of elation. This little ornament does an adorable jig which she thinks is just wonderful!

I was trying to get her to pose with the Christmas bear, but Pup had to be in the picture. Then, I tried to take the bear away, but no, he must be in the picture as well.

Another conquest from the tree! I purposely put all of the wooden and soft ornaments down at the bottom so she could have a lot of fun with the tree. I also DIDN'T use the metal hooks to hang them. I can't believe I actually thought of that before she stuck one in her mouth.

We have quite a few Christmasey stuffed toys: Santa, a moose, a Christmas bear, several snowmen. Kate thinks they are GREAT! She loves to pull them around the house as she goes.

That second to last shot of Kate is precious, Liz! Can you BELIEVE it's been almost a year?!

That's not a double chin, that's her pronounced cheek bones!

These are adorable pictures! I love the second one of Lydia and the last one of Kate. Kate is getting so big!! I love that little denim dress. I can't wait to get to see all of you!

(PS: What kind of camera did you get? I thought I had asked in a previous comment, but it was one I never finished.)

It's a digital version of my film camera. The Canon Rebel XTi. I'm still trying to learn it. I need to have a workshop with Renee sometime. She has the same camera. On some of the pics I am still getting a flat picture that I don't like about digital. I know that I could do some alteration of the aperture opening & the fstop, but I don't have time for that 99.99 % of the time. I AM loving the turnaround time. It takes 3 pics per second (that's on sports mode), and even the portrait & reg modes it's pretty dang fast. Light years ahead of a point and shoot, for sure.
Jen, you could always consider a DSLR - like camera. They look like & act a lot like digital slr's, but they aren't. (Of course, their price tag is a little more like the big dudes. . about $300.)

Also, to those of you who are wondering if we're independently wealthy -- we're not. Josh was able to buy the camera with some gift cards to Best Buy that he got at work. The cards were originally meant to buy him a new laptop, but he didn't end up needing to do that.

A workshop with me? You're funny. I'm still trying to figure my camera out. Unless you meant take some real classes together which I'm all for! Wolf offers some on Saturdays for our particular camera. I've been waiting for someone to get the same kind to do that with. If you're interested, we could look into it. The challenge would be to hope they are offered in a good location so neither one of us has to drive across the world! See you tonite.
