It's a . . . . . . .

Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thursday, I had my OB checkup and ultra sound. Both were really great. It was incredible to see our little baby girl drinking a nice amniotic fluid cocktail and hiccuping. I immediately fell in love with the cuteness of my baby's nose. She also had one of her arms up around her head in a position that her daddy often sleeps in. By the end of the ultrasound she had moved her legs up so that they were touching her forehead. I was intrigued to think that all the "kicks" I've been feeling might actually be her little arm up over her head poking me. She weighs a mere 11 or 12 oz. She'll be growing a lot in the next few months.
Now that we know that we are having a daughter, things seem a lot more real. For all of those out there who thought we were having a little boy, I hope our surprising news brings a smile to your face. If any of you have seen Josh with his little neice, you know that having a little girl will be a perfect fit for someone destined to have a "Daddy's Little Girl." Lisa informs me that I will have to be the strong one. :-)

Emma was head down with her hands up on either side af her head for weeks, and every so often I would feel her little hands and fingers wiggling around. I liked that much better than being smacked around with her knees all the time =).
Isn't it so amazing to see the ultrasound? I loved watching Emma play in her water bubble =).

Little "peanut" will have a built-in playmate with Lydia, too. What is the little one's name to be, then?

Woo hoo - another girl. I was convinced you were having one. :-) Are you continuing to feel better?

Well, we can't keep calling her Chip, that's for sure. :-) Name of the week is Kate. . but don't go embroidering any diapers or anything like that.

I don't think I would advise embroidering diapers anyway. It just seems like a waste of time =).

Felicidades Amiga! I love the name Kate. I actually have something similar on my list of baby names, but feel free to use it! Any middle names?

I admit I was one of "those people" who thought you were having a boy...I guess I just figured that nearly everyone we know is having girls lately, meaning it was time for a boy, right? I know, I know... great logic on my part!
I'm thrilled little Pooks will have a girl cousin near in age. I hope they will be good friends as youngsters and adults =)

Of course, this fits the tradition of "girls first"--Mom was the oldest, you were the oldest, three of my siblings had girls first (Jana, Carla, Trisha), Karen's first (Kathy's sister) was a girl.
We're thrilled.
Love,
Dad

Congratulations! You are going to love doing all the fun Mom and Daughter things and she will be wrapped around her Daddy's finger too. I am sure Lydia is thrilled with the news as well! I always loved finding out what we were having. If was after that that I became so close with my girls. Now the wait until you get to hold her in your arms... well worth every minute.
