mmmmm......

I had never had a homemade cherry pie -- so I made one. I've never had a lemon cake either, so next year's birthday cake will have to be lemon. I can't believe in my 29 years of existence there are so many more things to experience (and TASTE)! Even food-challenged persons like myself have many more flavors to savor. I bought two new things this week at the grocery store: mahi-mahi & broccoflower. I'll let you know if either lives up to the absolute deliciousness of homemade cherry pie!

Renee -- yes, I used the recipe you sent me. I was making it late at night and forgot the "secret" ingredient that I paid $8 for at the grocery store: almond extract. So, I found a medicine dropper & "inserted" the almond extract AND the butter I had forgotten as well into the pie by little squirts. I laughed sooo hard while I was doing it. The pie had already been baking for awhile, so I couldn't just rip the top crust right off. Baking Adventures with Liz.

Jennifer: My birthday was the 11th of this month. I'm getting closer to being a whole 3 decades old. :-)

The mental picture of you doing that is cracking me up, Liz. I would LOVE to have been there.

I didn't want anyone watching me -- not even Josh. But, typical me, I couldn't keep my foolishness a secret, so I told Josh. He doubted my unorthodox method would work, but thankfully it didn't result in bites of concentrated almond or butter. (My worst fear!) Of course, I can tell the story now that the results are known!
