H2O

Unbelievable! The pretty perfect cleaning solution has been dripping from my faucet, pouring out of my showerhead, and burning my hands as I wash dishes because I used water that's a smidgen too hot -- plain, unadulterated water. Yesterday, armed with spray bottle, HOT water from the tap, and terry cloth cover (that I already had and is 100% washable), I mopped my kitchen floor. It made the floor FEEL clean which is my number one must-have, and it didn't strip the floor of its natural sheen. Many thanks to Stephanie and Renee for letting me in on that secret.

Rain drops keep falling on my head!
And just like the guy whose feet were too big for his bed
Nothing seems to fit
Rain drops keep falling on my head
They keep falling
Because I'm free!

If you can make sense of this song -- let me know!

Now I feel educated and ready to tackle my floors right from the start!

I think Liz knows this already, but when I clean my floors I alternate between mopping with a sponge mop using hot water and a little bit of Fabuloso (a towel is needed to dry the floors)and using my terry cloth mop with a spray bottle filled with hot water and some vinegar. No matter what, sweeping first is always necessary for a good result.

I have never heard of a terry cloth mop. I am definitely going to have to investigate!

I think it's really the sweeping that kills me. That's why I'm so interested in getting a vacuum that will pick up debris AND the dust. Truthfully, what I really need are little maid-fairies that come in and do my housework at the snap of a finger. Tinkermaid, anyone? If only my very thoughts could accomplish great deeds. For instance, I'm feeding Kate on the couch and the afternoon light streams in through my back windows. Suddenly, all of the dust on my floors is illuminated as the light hits it "just right". If only in that moment of seeing, it would be taken care of. Ahh, the endless application of this idea!
